TB8 Drum Trigger Installation:

Important Note;

  1. We recommend testing all tb8's with your controller settings prior to the installation process.
  2. Too much head  pressure desensitizes response.  Too little pressure causes double triggering.

Mounts Up

The tb8 drum trigger was designed to be installed in either the up or the down position (next pic).  Performance will not be effected.

Mounts Down

Universal mounting

The tb8 drum trigger was designed to be installed in either the up or the down position.  Performance will not be effected.

Universal mounting

Universal mounting

Only one mounting screw is necessary for our drum conversion trigger because the natural curvature of the drum shell acts as a lock washer to prevent unwanted movement.  The tb8 has 4 universal side mounting holes .

Alignment

cone position preference

  • Mount the tb8 assembly near the vent hole.
  • Remove one or two lug screws and attach the tb8.
  • Use a square for best alignment then tighten down.
  • The recommended cone placement is "off-center"  for best performance.

cone position preference

cone position preference

  • The majority of customers have found that  mounting the cone 3-4" from the drum edge (off center) provides the best performance.
  • The cone trigger can be mounted anywhere within the tb8 bracket slot parameters.
  • A stiff straight edge can be used to help locate the exact bearing edge.
  •  The cone should rest approx 1/32" above the bearing edge (slight pressure up against the bottom of the mesh head).  Use 2 wrenches to tighten the pedestal hardware.

Important NOTE:

Too much pressure desensitizes response.  Too little pressure causes double triggering.

  • Remove vent grommet.  Vent grommets are either pressed in or threaded.
  • Insert proprietary rear entry 1/4" jack.  Once jack is installed, tighten each nut firmly.
  • Now install your preferred mesh head.

Use existing vent hole

Use existing vent hole

Pic shows a dual tb8 electronic drum trigger using 2 separate TS jacks.  This configuration requires drilling one more hole.

Bass drum mounting

Use existing vent hole

Bass drum tb8 trigger should be placed 5" away from beater impact position.  This is due to heavy beater impact demand.  Only one trigger is needed for double bass.
