Roland cones are generally replaced when the strike sensitivity weakens. Our cone replacements atomic structure will transfer the stick energy very quickly and efficiently, restoring drum sensitivity.
Carefully remove the old cone. There are many videos online that show how to do this. Do not pull straight up, this may damage the delicate piezo.
Carefully use acetone or equivalent to completely remove the old glue from the piezo.
We always suggest a “dry run” first before peeling off the thin adhesive backing.
Before installing the new cone, power up your controller and gently tap the existing piezo to test that it has not been damaged and still functions.
Dry fit the new cone and test for correct height. If you cant adjust the 3 base mounting screws for correct height, trim the top of the cone w/razor.
Tip: The top of the cone should have slight pressure with the mesh head.
Now install the new cone by peeling off the back of the adhesive disc. Hint: The adhesive disc is intended to be very thin. Using a pin should help peel it off.
Tip; if you need to create a wire channel for the small wires, we suggest using a hot tip to melt a small wire channel on the cone base. In most cases, the foam is soft enough to accommodate the wires under standard head pressure.
Install the mesh head.

All CP's diy cones come with a very strong adhesive disc that literally sticks to anything.
Note: There is a small amount of adhesive covering the wires. This is necessary to protect from wire connections from inadvertent strain.
Note: piezo's are delicate elements due to the materials used in their manufacturing, always handle with extreme care. Dont not squeeze or drop or apply excessive force in any direction.
Make sure the mounting surface is clean and clear of foreign matter.
Perform a "Dry Run" first to make sure you have it right because you only get one chance at adhesive placement.
Simply peel off the backer and place cone into position.
Gently press down on the cone tip for 3 seconds to secure the bond.
connect the wires.
The cone tip should extend 1/32" above the bearing drum edge for optimum performance. Go to our "troubleshooting" tab if necessary.
