Roland cones are generally replaced when the strike sensitivity weakens. A new cone atomic structure will transfer the stick energy very quickly and efficiently, restoring drum sensitivity.
carefully use your fingers to slide off the old cone. Do not pull straight up, this may damage the delicate piezo.
use acetone or equivalent to remove the old glue.
We always suggest a “dry run” first before installing.
Before installing the new cone, gently tap the existing piezo with your fingernail to test that it still functions. Of course you will need to turn on the controller. Sometimes the piezo is dead.
Now install the new cone by peeling off the back of the adhesive disc. Hint: Using a pin may help peel it off.
Most hardware varies slightly from manufacturer to manufacturer, therefore it may be necessary to trim the cone with a razor for a precise fit or adjust the 3 base mounting screws with additional washers that hold the trigger cone base.
use a hot tip to melt a small wire channel at the cone base if needed. In most cases, the foam is soft enough to accommodate the wires under standard head pressure.
Install the mesh head, that's it.

Make sure the mounting surface is clean and clear of foreign matter.
Perform a dry run first to make sure you got it right because you only get one chance at placement.
Simply peel off the backer and place into position.
Gently press down on the foam for 3 seconds to secure the bond.
attach the wires to you rig.
The cone tip should extend 1/32" above the bearing drum edge for optimum performance. Go to our "troubleshooting" tab if necessary.
